One week old
Red was barking up a storm. Nothing wrong, just practicing I guess. Caught the last couple as he fades into sleep. The background sound is sweet potatoes being wrapped to go in the oven for Thanksgiving!
We keep it a little cool in our house for the GSDs. In the video above Kitzi was out of the box and the pups were rearranging to share body heat. By themselves pups can’t maintain body temperature well till around 2.5 or 3 weeks, but as you can see they know how to deal with that.
It’s been a busy week, most everyone has doubled in weight and Kitz has settled into a rhythm of nursing and cleaning and resting punctuated by bouts of chasing sticks in our back yard. She’s enjoying her goat’s milk and is unexpectedly preferring kibble to raw.
These pictures don’t tell the whole story. Just after the video above Judy was cuddling Bart and he was melting into her. Then he pooped all over her arm. I was holding Raven, and throughout all the excitement and cleanup she was a perfect lady, snuggling into my chest and cooing.

Tha Magnificent 6 1/2! Cue the overture!
A vocal litter, they already are showing their preferences at 36 hours! Red (red) wants you to know everything he’s thinking. Teddy (green) seems to like baths. Raven (au naturel), AKA Tiny, AKA Scrappy, is already compensating for her dimuntive but rapidly growing stature with nimble cleverness. Earlier today she zipped right under a larger pup to get to her favorite lunch spot!
