“Dogs offer security, succor, esteem, understanding, forgiveness, fun and laughter and, most important, abundant and unconditional love. Furthermore, they make no judgements, and we can be ourselves with them. They also need our help and make us feel important.”

- Leo K. Bustad, "Compassion: Our Last Great Hope”, p50

Most dogs don’t naturally track things in the air. We start working with ours on this at a young age – it makes games more fun. [7/23]

Zero, B, with one of his favorite people. When Zero first moved in, Mom and Dad used to find a certain someone asleep outside his kennel in the morning! [6/23]

Kitz was in the pen with a couple other dogs crowding near the door. She picked up a long stick with 2/3 of it toward the fence and 1/3 toward a nearby dog, perhaps to get past the dog easier. But she couldn’t get the 2/3 side past the fence. She tried to angle it but it still wouldn’t fit. She then put the stick down and picked it up with 1/3 of it near the fence and 2/3 near the other dog, twisted her head, and walked gently between the fence and the other dog, touching neither, and went off to chew her stick. [6/23]

Leo, D, loves his Jeep rides! [6/23]

Maizee girl! C [6/23]

We started pruning a tree in our backyard without knowing we were near a bird’s nest. Mom flew away and babies started falling out of the nest. They were almost ready to fly but not quite. Rory came over to check out the excitement – as fast as we put one back another fell out. We told Rory “no” and she watched for a while without pouncing on any and then went and watched from a distance chewing on her ball.

Later while I was working nearby I noticed a baby walking in the grass 20 or 30’ away with Mom swooping over its head. Rory had known it was there long before I did but just watched. Good girl. I put it back.

I checked throughout the afternoon but didn’t see any more escapees – a happy ending, I think.

Timmy, D, lives the horse camping and show life! Word is that he just sits and watches the horses compete and doesn’t bark or get involved, the mark of an accomplished farm dog! [6/23]

Here is just about a clone of Momma Kitzi. From our Kitzi x Paddy Magnificent 7 Litter. Remember she was the “little” in the litter? Growing up big, strong and beautiful! [6/23]

Lux, D, and Kenzi out getting some exercise! [6/23]

Judy was throwing a float toy for Kitz into a friend’s pond. Kitz would swim out to it, bring it back, and drop it at Judy’s feet. This went on for a while. Finally Kitz flopped down on the bank panting and didn’t give the toy back to be thrown, which was good because Judy had no way to get the toy out of the pond without Kitzi’s cooperation. After a brief rest Kitz left the toy and ran off with Rory to explore a pasture.

Most dogs love to swim, but it’s very hard work for them.

Some dogs don’t swim well. For example Rory has a lot of muscle and tends to sink. As with people, keep an eye on dogs in or around water.

Loki, B, enjoying some beach time with Hala and Shawn. Don’t you just love a good crinkly coat. [6/23]

Barron. D [6/23]

Chief, D, and his very special friend! [6/23]

Zuri, C, is zooming through her training classes with A+s! [6/23]

Prince, A, and Nia! Prince is very spoiled boy. [6/23]

We have had multiple GSD from different breeders. Would say Stoney Lonesome has been the best. The pups and parents are well taken care of and the temperament and health are amazing. Would highly recommend them because every aspect has been positive with them even after we have the pup. They actually care and want the best for everyone. We love our pup that we received from them earlier in the year!

A puppy shower was sweetly hosted for Finn, D, by his Aunts and Uncles and for Thomas Eggleston! Also, Finn is now attending med school. [4/23]

D Litter humor:

Fritz: “Hey Rocket, wanna hear a joke?”
Rocket: “Shoot.”
Fritz: “My tongue and the roof of my mouth are best friends. They’re taste buds.”
Rocket: “Bwa ha ha ha!” [2/23]
